  • difference between addition type liquid silicone and condensation type liquid silicone

Liquid silicone rubber is a kind of organic silica gel compared to mixing semi-solid silicone rubber and common room temperature vulcanized one-component silica gel. forming. Liquid silicone rubber is divided into addition type liquid silicone rubber and condensation type liquid silicone rubber.

    1. Addition type liquid silicone rubber: The addition type liquid silicone rubber is a base polymer with vinyl-containing polysiloxane. The viscosity of the rubber compound before vulcanization of the addition type silicone rubber is low, which is easy to pour and does not release heat during vulcanization. No low molecular by-products are released, the shrinkage rate is small, it can be deeply vulcanized, and the operation is simple. After vulcanization, it becomes a soft, transparent or translucent elastomer, which can maintain elasticity for a long time in the temperature range of -50°C to 200°C. Addition type liquid silicone is a higher-grade variety of silicone rubber, which has the advantages of vulcanization and other advantages, and its sealing performance at high temperature is also better than that of condensation type. It has excellent electrical properties and chemical stability, water resistance, ozone resistance, radiation resistance, weathering resistance, water and moisture resistance, shock resistance, good low compression deformation, low flammability; physiologically inert, non-toxic, odorless, and vulcanized The speed can be smoothly controlled by temperature.

    2. Condensed liquid silica gel: The vulcanization reaction of condensed liquid silica gel needs to meet two conditions, which requires moisture and catalyst in the air to promote the reaction. Usually, the rubber compound and the catalyst are packaged separately as a component. Curing begins to occur only when the two components are thoroughly mixed together. The curing time of the two-component condensation type RTV silica gel mainly depends on the type, amount and temperature of the catalyst. The higher the amount of catalyst, the faster the vulcanization, and the shorter the rest time. Condensed liquid silica gel can be cured at room temperature (25°C), and can become an elastomer after 8 to 24 hours. In order to speed up the amount of curing agent can be increased. The increase or decrease of curing agent and temperature and temperature are all factors that affect the speed of curing.
