  • Silicone Oil Release Agents: A Molecular Revolution in Industrial Molding

    Within the tight tolerances of precision molds, silicone oil release agents redefine the efficiency boundaries of industrial molding through molecular-level precision penetration. As a core component of third-generation release technologies, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) surpasses traditional materials in release effectiveness, environmental adaptability, and cleanliness, thanks to its unique physicochemical properties.

    Molecular-Level Release: A Surface Tension Miracle
    The linear molecular structure of silicone oil provides an ultra-low surface tension of 20–21 dyn/cm, just 28% of water’s surface tension. When silicone molecules contact the mold surface, their methyl side chains rapidly spread across the solid–liquid interface, forming a penetrative monolayer that reduces adhesion between the molded part and the mold by over 80%. Experimental data shows that at a concentration of 0.05%, silicone oil release agents achieve a first-release success rate of 99.2%, with release force three times lower than wax-based materials and 1.5 times lower than grease-based materials.

    Performance Stability in Extreme Conditions
    The Si–O bond in silicone oil has an energy of 452 kJ/mol, far exceeding the 346 kJ/mol of C–C bonds. This molecular-level stability allows the release activity to remain effective from –40 °C to 300 °C. Tests by an automotive parts manufacturer showed that in a 200 °C die-casting environment, the silicone oil release agent maintained 90% of its room-temperature efficiency, while conventional wax-based release agents completely carbonized. In a wide pH range of 2–12, the number of release cycles is extended 5–8 times compared with polyvinyl alcohol-based agents.
