High-Viscosity Dimethyl Silicone Oil: The "Stable Core" Inside Automotive Shock Absorbers

When a vehicle travels over a bumpy road, the stability and comfort felt by passengers are largely thanks to a special fluid inside the shock absorbers—high-viscosity dimethyl silicone oil. This silicone oil is the true "stable core" of the automotive chassis system.

Unlike ordinary lubricants, shock absorber oil needs to maintain consistent performance under extreme temperatures. High-viscosity dimethyl silicone oil has an exceptionally wide operating temperature range, from the frigid -40°C of northern winters to the high heat of 150°C in the engine bay, with minimal change in its viscosity.
