In September , Dongguan Changlian New Materials Technology Co., Ltd. (stock code: 301618) listed on the ChiNext board, surging an astonishing 1,704% on its first trading day, becoming the year’s “hottest IPO.” Behind this market frenzy lies not just speculative enthusiasm for new listings, but broader recognition of the critical role high-end organosilicon materials play in strategic sectors like semiconductors and new energy.

Many users wonder: Is the material produced by this company related to the silicone oil they encounter in daily life? The answer is: highly related—but far more advanced and specialized.

Changlian Tech does not manufacture ordinary industrial silicone oils. Instead, it focuses on electronic-grade functional organosilicon materials, including ultra-high-purity silane coupling agents, phenyl-modified silicones, and base oils for thermal greases, which are widely used in chip packaging, power module thermal management, and protection of advanced electronic components.

According to its prospectus, while water-based printing pastes remain a traditional business line, electronic-grade organosilicon materials have become its second growth engine, with related revenue doubling year-over-year in 2023.

The market’s exuberant response is essentially a vote of confidence in a triple thesis: domestic substitution, technical barriers to entry, and strong downstream demand. For everyday users, the chips in your smartphone, the battery pack in your electric vehicle, and even the cooling systems in AI servers may all contain these “silent yet high-performance silicone materials.”

As silicone oil evolves from a textile additive to a wafer fab essential, its value has long transcended mere “lubrication.”
