Polysilazane (PSZ) is a type of polymer with Si-N bonds as repeating units in the main chain. According to its molecular structure, polysilazanes can be divided into: cyclosilazanes, oligomeric polysilazanes, and polymeric polysilazanes; according to its functional groups, polysilazanes can be divided into inorganic polysilazanes (perhydropolysilazanes) and organic polysilazanes (methyl, vinyl, fluorinated, heterogeneous element modified, etc.).

Since the research groups of A. Stock and Somieski first reported the preparation of polysilazanes with chlorosilanes in 1921, the research on polysilazanes has continued for more than a century.

Silazane is an important ceramic precursor that can be used to develop a variety of ceramic-based materials. It has attracted much attention from many countries around the world, so its product series are increasing and new products are constantly being introduced. Due to its active nature and the difficulty in transportation and storage, the polysilazane industry has a low production capacity, and the production capacity is concentrated in European and American companies. Among them, Germany's Merck Group is a leading company in the industry, accounting for more than 80% of the market share, and its representative products include the DURAZANE series of liquid polysilazanes.

Polysilazane entered the field of vision of domestic enterprises in 2013. Since then, the high value-added civil field has been increasingly valued by universities, research institutes and enterprises across the country. The research on polysilazane technology and application has been continuously deepened, and small-batch production capacity has been achieved so far. However, compared with foreign countries, there is still a gap in domestic R&D capabilities and scientific and technological achievements transformation capabilities.

Compared with the mature polysiloxane with Si-O as the main chain, domestic polysilazanes are still in the stage of completing the accumulation of basic technologies and small-scale intermittent production. Some scientific research institutions and enterprises with strong R&D capabilities have achieved green, continuous, intelligent, high-quality and multi-variety industrial breakthroughs in polysilazanes.
