Company Shutdowns and Capacity Maintenance: In August, leading silicone companies such as Zhejiang Xinan, Shandong Dongyue, Inner Mongolia Hengyecheng, Hubei Xingfa, and Tangshan Sanyou simultaneously announced production halts, with raw silicone and 107 rubber temporarily off the market. At the same time, four monomer producers in Shandong, Zhejiang, and Xinjiang announced concentrated maintenance, affecting over 1 million tons of production capacity. Maintenance periods are undefined, and many facilities are operating at low loads, significantly tightening domestic silicone supply.

Silicone Price Fluctuations: By mid-September, the silicone market was underperforming, and new orders at monomer plants were generally weak. Some manufacturers attempted tentative price increases of 200 RMB/ton to stimulate sales, but downstream shipments remained sluggish, profits were squeezed, and high-price buying sentiment largely disappeared. With costs rising instead of falling, the risk of losses for monomer producers further increased. DMC prices remained stable at 10,700–11,200 RMB/ton. As of September 14, mainstream prices for 107 rubber were 11,500–12,000 RMB/ton, and silicone oil was 13,500–13,800 RMB/ton.

Patent Applications: On August 19, Shandong Dongyue Silicone Materials Co., Ltd. filed a patent for a “Synthesis Process of 3H-Heptamethyltrisiloxane.” The invention enables controlled insertion of Si-H bonds and reuse of catalysts, improving both production efficiency and safety. Jiangsu Kesheng Intelligent Equipment Co., Ltd. filed a patent for a “Synthesis Process of Silicone Monomers and a Fluidized Bed Reactor,” featuring high single-pass conversion of methyl chloride and high product selectivity.

Elkem Wins Award for First 100% Recycled Silicone Product: On August 5, Elkem launched its first 100% recycled silicone product, the SILCOLEASE RE series, which received BIG’s “Sustainable Product of the Year” award. This product converts silicone waste into high-performance new silicone release coatings, with a carbon footprint of only 1.1 kg CO₂ equivalent per kilogram of product—far below the global average.
