  • Fearless Against Extreme Temperatures: The “King of Heat and Cold”

    Did you know? In the field of materials, there are very few “all-rounders” that can withstand both ultra-low and extreme high temperatures. Phenyl silicone materials stand out as true “temperature warriors,” capable of operating across an extraordinary range from –70 °C to 300 °C — a span rarely seen in comparable materials.

    In ultra-low temperature environments, many materials lose fluidity due to reduced molecular mobility, often leading to brittleness or fracture. For example, conventional rubber becomes hard and brittle at around –40 °C and can no longer function properly. By contrast, thanks to its unique low-phenyl structure, phenyl silicone maintains flexibility even at –70 °C, preserving excellent flow properties and preventing embrittlement. This makes it indispensable in polar exploration equipment and cryogenic medical devices. For instance, in outdoor sensor seals at Antarctic research stations, it maintains sealing performance in subzero conditions, ensuring stable data transmission and reliable support for research.

    At high temperatures, phenyl silicone also delivers remarkable performance. A high phenyl content provides outstanding heat resistance, allowing the material to operate stably below 250 °C without softening or deformation. When combined with stabilizers, its thermal resistance improves further — oxidation begins only gradually above 250 °C, and it can endure 300–350 °C environments for hundreds of hours. This makes it ideal for aerospace and automotive engine applications. Take aircraft engine cable insulation as an example: while internal engine temperatures often exceed 300 °C, conventional insulation materials quickly fail. Phenyl silicone insulation, however, withstands prolonged heat exposure, ensuring safe transmission of signals and power, thereby safeguarding engine reliability. From polar cold to scorching engine compartments, phenyl silicone adapts with ease, remaining stable even through extreme thermal fluctuations and offering lasting protection across industries.
